Selected work 2026

What the studio ships

Nine pieces, from a hand-drawn magazine feature to a plugin: the drawing and the finished frame side by side, and the systems we built to make them.

01Illustration · editorial

Drawn by hand, printed on paper

Over a year of editorial illustration for a newsstand monthly: botanical and lifestyle features, issue after issue. Everything here begins as a drawing on paper — line, weight and composition settled by hand — and colour, texture and light are built in the finish. That craft is what makes the faster tools behave. Each style can also be trained into a model, so a brand keeps one consistent look across everything it makes.

02Animation & character

One animation, many looks

Flat, frame-based animation built in After Effects. We ran some of these clips through our own plugin and restyled them into felt, flannel and claymation looks, among others. The same animation, finished a dozen different ways.

Same timing, same drawing. Only the finish changes.

03Branded video · end to end

Storyboard to screen

Written, designed and animated end to end. The board is drawn by hand, shot by shot, before anything is generated: it is the document that settles framing, rhythm and casting. The finished film follows it.

Drag the handle. The same eight shots, drawn and then finished, in the same order.

04Branded video · 2022

The same process, older tools

A promotional video for AddLance, made in 2022, before any of the AI work on this page. Written, boarded, designed and animated the way motion design has always been made. It is here because the process did not change when the tools did: the board still comes first, and the tools only decide how long the middle takes.

05Case study · social

Four photographs, one film

A set of still creatives for a removals company, turned into a vertical film for social. The photographs never move: what moves is built on top of them with AI editing and motion design. One set of images, one film, and a shape that fits the phone it gets watched on.

06Custom models · since 2023

A house style, trained

Hand-drawn character sets become the training data for a custom image model. It learns one consistent style, then generates new, on-brand illustrations on demand. One of these models has been running a client blog since 2023.

07Generative pipelines · 2023–2026

Verticalised, early

Production pipelines we designed and prototyped ahead of the curve, built for precise, controllable output and to cut the cost of physical sets and rendering.

08Product · JustAE

AI video, inside your editor

A plugin we built in 2026. It puts a generative video layer right in the timeline, not in another browser tab. It runs in After Effects and DaVinci Resolve, with an open-source core and a Pro edition for studios: marker interpolation across layers in batch, storyboards built from placeholders already in the composition, and versioned output named the way a studio names files.

The JustAE product site

Two flows, one panel. The pitch, in thirty-seven seconds.

09Labs · generative animation

Illustration, in motion

These frames come from a video that starts as our own drawing and our own idea. AI makes it real, then we animate it. Labs is where things get tried before they become tools.
